AZUMI is the design studio of Shin Azumi and Tomoko Azumi, established in London in 1995. Shin Azumi was born 1965, Kobe, Japan. In 1994 he received a MA in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art, UK and in 1989 a BA in Product Design at Kyoto City University of Art, Japan. His awards include 1992 Good Design Award on "Personal Word Processor - Bungo Mini 5 si, JIDPO, Japan; 1991 Good Design Award on "PC Engine DUO", JIDPO, Japan; 1989 Grand Prize of Seki Cutlery Design Competition, Japan. Tomoko Azumi was born 1966, Hiroshima, Japan. In 1990 - 92 she worked with Toda Construction Corporation, Design Room, Japan. In 1989 - 90 she worked with Kazuhiro Ishii Architect and Associates, Japan. In 1995 she received a MA in Furniture Design at the Royal College of Art, UK and in 1989 a BA in Environmental Design at Kyoto City University of Art, Japan. she received awards for: 1995 the FX/HNB Furniture Award at the New Designers Exhibition,UK; 1993 ABSA/Arthur Andersen Trophy Design Award, UK; 1989 Grand Prize of Misawa Student Housing Design Award on "Spiral House", Japan.
