GAM FRATESI design studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The studio is based in Copenhagen, though they are continuously travelling between Italy and Denmark for the development and research of new projects. Stine Gam graduated from the Architect school of Aarhus, Denmark in 2006 with a Master in furniture design, receiving 1st prize for best thesis 2006 in design from the Danish National Bank. She also studied architecture in Torino and Ferrara, Italy. In 2003 she worked in Tokyo for Fumihiko Maki's studio. Enrico Fratesi studied architecture in Firenze and Ferrara, Italy. During his education he also studied architecture at the KTH Stockholm School, and furniture design in Architectschool of Aarhus. In 2005 he worked as architect in Arkitema studio in Aarhus. The union of their two cultures is a strong element in their design, inspired by simple everyday gestures and deeper aspects of their cultures in a fusion of technology, poetry and tradition.
